Who's Behind JayArr Coffee

I'm Jay Arr, and I started JayArr Coffee in 2020 because I kept falling down rabbit holes about coffee and figured I might as well bring people with me. What began as a YouTube channel reviewing beans and brewing methods has grown into a library of over 100 articles and dozens of videos covering everything from water chemistry to origin guides to espresso machine teardowns.

What This Site Is About

JayArr Coffee is built on a simple idea: great coffee starts with understanding. Not gatekeeping, not expensive gear worship, not "you're doing it wrong" energy. Just clear, honest explanations of why things work the way they do -- so you can make better decisions about what you drink.

That means we dig into the science when it matters. The water chemistry that makes or breaks your brew. The extraction math behind why your coffee tastes sour or bitter. The processing methods that create the flavors you love (or hate). We cite our sources and show our work.

It also means we're honest about products. Our reviews come from actual use, not press releases. When something doesn't work -- like the SteepShot we paid over $100 for -- we say so. When a $35 AeroPress outperforms a $200 gadget, we say that too.

What We Cover

The YouTube Channel

The JayArr Coffee YouTube channel is where the video side lives. Most of our articles have companion videos, and vice versa. If you prefer watching to reading, that's the place. Subscribe if you want to see new content as it drops.

How We Make Money

Transparency matters. This site uses affiliate links -- primarily through the Amazon Associates Program. When you buy something through one of our links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the site running without paywalls or intrusive advertising.

Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial opinions. We recommend things because we think they're good, not because we get paid. For the full details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.

The Other Rabbit Hole

If you like what we do with coffee, you might enjoy JayArr Pizza — the same approach (research-first, tool-heavy, no gatekeeping) applied to home pizza making. Interactive tools like a dough calculator, oven calibrator, and pizza troubleshooter, plus deep-dive articles grounded in Forkish, Masi, and Myhrvold. Same rabbit hole energy, different food.
